Help me get the most out of my PS2 purchase! Yes, a few months ago I bought the venerable Playstation 2 (that's a 2 as in T W O, not the new overpriced PC-wannabe DRM-laden console Sony is selling now.) I also got a Gamefly membership and I've been checking out titles - mostly focused on trying to enjoy the best the console has to offer. I'm willing to try anything once, and Gamefly makes it easy. Here is the list of titles I've tried and the ones in my queue - are there ones I should add? Are there 'must play' titles I'm not likely to have heard of? Help me out! Note that I'm looking for primarily the console experience - and if the game is also out for the PC, I've probably played it.
Here are the games I've played so far:
God of War - amazing, loved it!
Shadows of the Colossus - gave up after the first 3 bosses, I'm not a fan of boss fights, and this game is nothing but.
Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons of Liberty - slow gameplay bugged me, gave up about halfway through.
Resident Evil 4 : I couldn't get past the poor graphics and hard to use control scheme.
MLB'06: The Show : best baseball game I've played in many years.
Guitar Hero : a blast, I can see why everybody raved about this one!
Here are the ones in my queue:
Kingdom Hearts II
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Freedom Fighters
Final Fantasy X
Jak II
Okami
SSX 3: Out of Bounds
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
Devil May Cry
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
.hack: Infection (Part 1)
Bully
I should mention a few games that aren't in my queue intentionally because I've played them already:
And here are some games I simply aren't interested in:
Have I missed your favorite title? Is there a little-known game that you consider a 'must play' for the console? If so, fill me in on the comments below!

I would consider these too:
Kingdom Hearts - the original is definitely a great title.
Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - again the original is a fantastic title and is rated E versus the T rating the later games recieved.
Final Fantasy XII - a fine game that is probably one of the best visually done games for the PS2
Disgaea: Hour of Darkness - An interesting Japanese tactical RPG type game with alot of playtime in there. This one may not work for you but it got high ratings and is still a very popular game.
Xenosaga-Episode 1 - many claim this to be one of the best RPGs available on the PS2.
I would skip .hack: Infection (Part 1) since I have played it a bit and it is not that good (at least in my opinion). I think that would be a pretty good list to try if you are trying to see some of the best the PS2 has to offer. They are all PS2 only and will be the only way you can experience them.

Step 1: Go to Gamestop/EB Games
Step 2: Tell the sales monkey "I'd like to trade in this tired (yet surprisingly slim) PS2 console for a XBOX 360."
Step 3: Pay monetary difference between the costs of the two consoles.
Step 4: Buy XBL Gold account.
Step 5: Play with JP, Tim, Kevin, and I who are all waiting for you to join the fun.
Per my post from the Rainbow Six posting on this topic:
"Scott, I beg you, go resell that tired (yet surprisingly slim) PS2 back to EB Games and get a used/new 360, it's what all the KEWL KIDZ are doing!!"

On topic, I like Tim's list. My only additions to your "time warp of gaming yesteryear" would be Katamari Damacy (just because) and the Sly Cooper series which I find to be a perfect mix of platforming/light humor/great graphics/excellent control scheme/stealth. I really think the Sly Cooper games are highly underrated. I like the Sly Cooper games even better than ANY of the Jak and Daxter games.

Oh man - I forgot Katamari Damacy - I have that one and played it a ton. Fun and bizarre!

"time warp of gaming yesteryear" - what sort of strange nonsense are you spewing? Some of the best games that are available today are older titles. I will concur about the Sly Cooper series and I need to pick one of those up. I will also point out that while it is not platform specific - Beyond Good and Evil should be a must play title. That game, while from yesteryear, is still one of the finest examples of story combined with excellent game play.
As to the other option of trading your PS2 in, I wouldn't. The Xbox, on the other hand, is probably a nearly safe bet, and while Gears of War maybe the only really exclusive title that has you interested at this point - the coop multiplayer options there are very well done and even Xbox Live has me hooked (and I am not a MS lover in many ways).

The coop multiplay in Vegas should be enough on its own. Where else can you get Trent grenading his own teammates left and right?
No where! Plus, as a bonus, you get Tim doing the same thing, but politely and with a warning.

Yeah, JP just shoots his own teammates with a gun every round. He's stingy with grenades apparently since he needs those to kill himself with after he killed all of us to speed up getting to the next round.

So many games, so little time. I haven't had time to play my PS2 lately except for Lego Star Wars II with my son. I did try to check out Kingdom Hearts and I find it very unusual so far. I'll have to get into it more (and read the manual online - I suspect this is a game that you need a manual for given the introduction and initial play.)
